Dr Joshphar Kunapo

Dr. Jasper (Joshphar) Kunapo — Founder & Lead Director

Dr. Joshphar Kunapo is the Founder and Lead Director of Grace Detailed-GIS Services. With a PhD focused on Modelling hydrological impacts of residential development in relation to Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD), he has built a distinguished career at the intersection of geospatial science and environmental planning.

Working closely with the City of Casey and Melbourne Water during his research, Dr. Kunapo explored the potential of high-resolution datasets—such as LiDAR and multi-spectral aerial imagery—for hydrological modelling and spatial decision support. These insights led him to establish Grace GIS in 2007, with the vision of using advanced spatial content for multi-criteria analysis in large-scale infrastructure and environmental projects.

Dr. Kunapo’s expertise lies in the optimal use of high-resolution spatial data to support spatial statistical modelling and impactful communication of geospatial insights. His work with government agencies and water authorities has earned industry recognition, including:

In addition to leading Grace GIS, Dr. Kunapo serves as a Spatial Scientist (Research Fellow) at the University of Melbourne’s Department of Resource Management and Geography, where he continues to contribute to innovative research and method development in the GIS field.
