Determining Volumetric Change Since June 2018 Within a Quarry

2018 - Determining Volumetric Change Since June 2018 Within a Quarry

Hobsons Bay City Council

In 2018, Grace GIS carried out a volumetric change analysis for a quarry within Hobsons Bay, providing the Council with critical insights into material movement over time. Using LiDAR-derived elevation surfaces and differential terrain modelling, we quantified cut-and-fill volumes, identified extraction patterns, and highlighted areas of significant topographic change since June 2018.

This analysis supports compliance monitoring, operational planning, and environmental oversight. By delivering highly accurate volumetric datasets and clear visualisations, we helped ensure the quarry's activities align with regulatory standards and supported the Council’s responsibility to monitor landform changes across the municipality.

Computed using differential surface modelling of successive LiDAR DEMs.
