Infrastructure and Asset Management

Melbourne Water

From 2014 to 2025, Grace GIS supported Melbourne Water with a series of geospatial projects focused on strengthening infrastructure planning, asset visibility, and operational efficiency across critical water supply catchments. Using LiDAR, high-resolution imagery, and advanced spatial modelling, we delivered accurate, decision-ready datasets that enhance Melbourne Water’s ability to manage and protect essential assets.

In 2025, we optimised Melbourne Water’s vantage points using LiDAR-based viewshed modelling, identifying ideal observation locations for surveillance, fire detection, and operational monitoring across complex terrain. In 2024, we mapped both road networks and fuel breaks within water supply catchments, providing precise spatial layers that support access planning, emergency response, and bushfire mitigation strategies.

Earlier work included mapping cathodic protection test points in 2015 to support infrastructure integrity, and updating Melbourne Water’s linear and segment assets in 2014 to ensure their asset registers were accurate, spatially aligned, and ready for integration into broader operational systems.

Together, these projects provide Melbourne Water with robust, high-quality spatial intelligence that strengthens asset management, enhances safety and resilience, and supports long-term operational planning.
